How to fix a dead flash drive (or USB key)

One of my flash drives suddenly died years ago. It all happened when i reformatted my hard disk and forgot to removed my flash disk after i finish reformatting with my hard drive i took my USB flash disk and use ti to save a file suddenly i was surprise when i could no longer open it and reformat my flash disk. i almost throw it away and replace it then i found this tool that revives and save my flash disk to misery. after installing and reforamtting use this tool, my flash disk device was detected it a surprise. it did not only save me from misery but also save me from spending money in buying another flash disk.

After a little research I was able to revive the drive, and here's the procedure (pretty easy):

  1. Download and install the HP Drive Key Boot Utility
  2. Open the desktop icon and select the correct flash drive under device
  3. Select the file system you want to format to (FAT, FAT32, NTFS)
  4. Tick Quick Format
  5. Click start

Officially this software (HP Drive Key Boot Utility) is meant for HP disks, but unofficially it seems to work fine at formatting most flash media, even digital camera cards.
